Caitania Priya Devi Dasi
(Dr. Carolle Chapman)

Medical Advisor & Ambassador – Portland, Oregon, USA | N.D., M.D. (Cuba), Holistic Family Medicine, Energetic Medicine, Holistic Mental Health & Addictions Medicine
Read More about Caitania Priya

Caitanya Priya Devi Dasi was born and raised in Jamaica by her grandparents who lived a simple life. Her grandmother, an entrepreneur and local herbalist, taught her to appreciate and use the gifts of plants to cure ailments and maintain health.

At 19 she moved to the United States to live and study. After graduating from the University of the District of Columbia, in Biology and Biochemistry (in 1979) she received a scholarship to medical school in Cuba where she studied Holistic Family Medicine and General Surgery; she then served two years in the Jamaica public health service.

On her return to the US, dissatisfied with the medical industry, she became a professor of Biomedical Sciences at the City University of New York. Nine years of teaching experience there revealed her true gift: a natural teacher in the care of the body, mind and spirit. In 2002, she returned to medical school to study Energetic Medicine and graduated from Bastyr University of Naturopathic Medicine and Chinese Medicine in 2006 with the degree of Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine.

From the very beginning, as a child, Caitanya Priya was searching for Truth.
In 1995, while studying for her medical license exams at the Brooklyn Public Library, she met Mother Paravati, a devotee of Srila Prabhupada. During their conversation, Caitanya Priya was given a few titles of Srila Prabupada’s books and the address of the Brooklyn Temple with encouragement to visit and learn more. What ensued was a major turn in her spiritual life. After visiting the Brooklyn Temple she became absorbed in learning the culture of Bhakti (devotional life). She never looked back; she had found her spiritual home.

In 1996 Caitanya Priya met Bhakti Tirtha Swami, and was initiated in February of 1999, at Gita Nagari Farm, Pennsylvania. This was followed by Brahman initiation in 2004. Bhakti Tirtha Swami engaged her in the care of devotees’ body, mind, emotions and soul. She served at the Gita Nagari farm for many years assisting devotees with health care.

Currently, Caitanya Priya lives in Portland, Oregon, practicing Holistic Mental Health. Her specialty: Anxiety and Depression and Holistic Addictions Medicine. The approach is based in: first find then treat the cause of illness. All natural modalities are used, such as Homeopathy, Ayurvedic Medicine, Botanical Medicine, Biotherapeutic Drainage, Qigong, Hydrotherapy etc. The objective is cure, when possible.

Bhagavati Devi Dasi

Read More about Bhagavati

Bhagavati joined the Hare Krishna Movement in Radhadesh in 1980, but spent 21 years living outside, taking care of her three children. During that time she also trained as a nurse, although, due to unforeseen circumstances, she never managed to finish the training.

She came back to Radhadesh in 2009 and has done several services since then, including managing the guesthouse, taking care of the cows and garden. Her main interest is in devotee care.

In 2016 I spent three months with a devotee friend, during the final stages of cancer, gaining first-hand experience of the importance of this special type of care. This was not the first time, but it did leave the biggest impression.

Since then, another member of our community, Mallaari Krsna prabhu and she have followed seminars on palliative care and care for the elderly, given by a devotee coupl: Hari-dhama and Gavesi prabhus.

With the growing number of elderly people in our communities as well as among our congregation, having a space where people can spend the final months of their life in the company of devotees is becoming extremely important.

Use your technology and make a mridanga that our men can’t break.” After a year or so of research and development, with the support of key players like Karandhar and Ranadhir Prabhus, Ishan began production of the Balaram mridanga in L.A.

For the last 15 years Ishan has been living in the Gila Forest in New Mexico, on a fifty acre parcel, by a small stream. Along with his wife, Darvesha, they have been living in the wilderness, gardening, chopping wood, and carrying water.

Read More about Amrita

After serving as a teacher-trainer for the United States Peace Corps, Amrita Gopala joined the Hare Krishna movement in Chittagong, Bangladesh. As a Western-bodied woman who spoke Bengali, she was quickly engaged in preaching work. She met her spiritual master, His Holiness Jayapataka Swami in Vrindavan during the holy month of Kartik whilst on a tirtha-sthan tour of India. Maharaja suggested she serve in Sri Dham Mayapur. At the time Amrita Gopala was undecided if she would become a Catholic nun or join Hare Krishna movement.

Having become fond of chanting, the care and worship of Tulsi devi and Srila Prabhupada’s incomparable books, she moved to Mayapur in 2002 and preached extensively with the Nama-hatta. The sole woman on long preaching tours with 70 brahmacaries and one sannyasi (His Holiness Gauranga Prem Swami), Amrita Gopala took a keen interest in training congregational devotees all over Bengal, Assam and Orissa.

Having been absorbed in the Bengali language and culture gave her a life-long love for the songs of the Vaisnava acaryas and for chanting Sri Caitanya-Caritamrta and Sri Caitanya-Bhagavat.

She currently lives in East Sussex, United Kingdom and serves as a teacher.
